Out of Network
Out of network benefits are benefits provided for you by your insurance company. This benefit reimburses you a certain percentage of the therapy fee (usually 30% to 80%) once your deductible is met. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions of your insurance provider:
Do I have out of network mental health insurance benefits?
Can I apply out of network therapy fees to my annual deductible?
Private Pay
Private pay may be the best option for you if you do not have insurance or if you would like more control over the frequency, duration, and/or style of therapy you receive. This is also a good option for individuals who prefer their company health plan not to receive mental health claims due to the stigma some employers still have of mental health treatment and/or a diagnosis, despite the data that indicates that therapy reduces sick time and increases productivity.
Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and have not given notice at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay a $75 cancellation fee.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
Providers cannot balance bill a patient unless patient was notified prior to services and signed an agreed upon consent to waive protections.
Any State laws supersede Federal protections against balance billing.
Listed below is contact information for individuals who feel a facility or provider has violated the state of federal requirements against balance billing. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit:
